Presentation: “Baltimore’s Transit Future: The Gameplan for a Modern Transit System”
Synopsis: Teresa Birge of the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) and Joe McAndrew of the Greater Washington Partnership (the Partnership) will present on the forthcoming Greater Baltimore’s Transit Future campaign focused on six key priorities that will collectively deliver a transformed system. The recent passage of the sweeping bipartisan federal transportation infrastructure bill presents a unique opportunity to shape the narrative around the current underperforming state of the region’s transit system, promote specific actions needed to create a modern transit system, and to educate business and community leaders, as well as the general public, on what needs to be done to make the region more accessible via transit opportunities. The current system represents an economic and social liability for our region that holds us back. We look to partner and invite all elected, business, and civic leaders, as well as riders, labor organizations, and community leaders to join the effort and show support for a better transit future and deliver transformative results through the campaign’s six priorities.
