Gubernatorial Candidates Forum: “Leadership for Improving Transportation

On May 31, 2018, Transit Choices, Central Maryland Transportation Alliance, 1000 Friends of Maryland, Citizens Planning & Housing Association, Bikemore, Global Shapers Baltimore, and the Baltimore Transit Equity Coalition hosted a Gubernatorial Candidates Forum: “Leadership for Improving Transportation”.

The event was held from 6:30 PM -8:30 PM at The Real News Network, 231 N. Holliday Street – Baltimore, MD 21202. Jayne Miller of WBAL-TV served as moderator.

Now is the time for a serious discussion about the path forward for transportation planning in greater Baltimore: Transportation Infrastructure. Reliability.  Access to jobs. Economic Development. What will be done to improve the transportation system for the greater Baltimore region and the State?

The comments and ideas shared by the following participating Gubernatorial Candidates were a step in the right direction:

Ralph Jaffe
Rich Madaleno
Alec Ross
Jim Shea
Krish Vignarajah

Each Candidate was asked to complete a transit questionnaire, prior to the event. The questionnaire responses can be viewed here: Gubernatorial Candidate Bios and Questionnaires_Compiled FINAL. We have also included responses from the following Gubernatorial Candidates who were unable to participate in the Forum:

Rushern Baker
Ben Jealous

The Candidates shared their platform on transportation with a diverse and transit oriented audience.
