Transit Choices Meeting – October 22, 2026

You’re Invited

The upcoming Transit Choices virtual meeting will be held via Zoom on Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM.

We are delighted to announce our featured guest speakers:

Kathryn “Katie” Thomson
Secretary
Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT)

Discussion Topic: “Advancing Safety and Connecting Marylanders”

Synopsis: Maryland’s transportation system has immense potential, from transit and bicycle and pedestrian safety projects to efforts to grow our economy through transit-oriented development and investments in assets such as the Port of Baltimore and BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport. As demonstrated by the Maryland Department of Transportation’s FY 2027-2032 Draft Consolidated Transportation Plan issued in September and recent milestones such as purchase of a site for the future Fifth Bus Division and the start of construction for the $50 million RAISE East-West project, MDOT is continuing to build on the Moore-Miller Administration’s transportation priorities of safety, state of good repair and economic growth, making sure we Leave No One Behind.

Jon Laria
Chair
Baltimore Regional Transit Commission (BRTC)

Presentation:“Reflections on the Baltimore Regional Transit Commission and a look ahead at Baltimore regional transit”

Synopsis: The Baltimore Regional Transit Commission (BRTC) was created by the Maryland General Assembly in 2023 and began its work in 2024.  The BRTC was the region’s first official body providing oversight of and advocacy for MTA.  A law enacted by the 2026 General Assembly replaced the BRTC with two new boards, the Baltimore Core Service Board and the Commuter Services Advisory Board, effective October 1, 2026.  Jon Laria has chaired the BRTC and will provide an assessment of its work, including successes and the many remaining challenges faced by Baltimore-area transit.
